Starting Dunne Rite Solutions wasn’t something Brian Dunne had mapped out years in advance. It came at a time when life was pulling him in a different direction, and he decided to build something that made more sense for where he was.
After more than 20 years in the foodservice industry, Brian had built a strong career in sales and worked his way up in the industry over time. Eventually, the constant travel that came with it started to take a toll. His health was declining, and at the same time, his wife Heather, who lives with Crohn’s disease, had a vision of building a senior dog sanctuary. Staying on the same path didn’t support either of those things.
So in 2022, he made a shift and started Dunne Rite Solutions.
The early days were far from easy. For the first couple of years, Brian was behind on his mortgage and car payments. There were plenty of moments where going back to a traditional role felt like the safer option. He thought about it often, but he didn’t walk away.
Brian is quick to give credit to the people who supported him early on, especially Perry Legg and the team at TD Marketing. In the beginning stages of building Dunne Rite, Perry and his team played a major role in helping with deliveries and logistics, stepping in during a time when Brian was still finding his footing. Brian is quick to recognize another friend who helped him along the way, Josh Chronister. The two have been friends for a long time, and Josh has been a steady source of support both personally and professionally. Brian speaks highly of the guidance and perspective Josh has offered over the years, always looking out for him and the business in a thoughtful, genuine way. The help of those close to him is something he hasn’t forgotten, and he’s very intentional about recognizing the people who helped him get the business off the ground.
Some wisdom from his father stuck with him, “just keep going”, and he did. He surrounded himself with people who believed in him and kept pushing forward.
That persistence isn’t new for him.
Brian is a four-time cancer survivor, first diagnosed at just 12 years old. Over the years, he’s battled kidney cancer, non-Hodgkin lymphoma, thyroid cancer, and basal cell skin cancer. Today, he’s been cancer-free for 16 years, but the long-term effects of the toll his illnesses and the treatments that got him through took on his body are still there. Even so, the way he talks about it isn’t heavy, it’s just part of his story. If anything, it shaped how he approaches everything, he doesn’t give up, and he doesn’t take anything for granted.
Another important part of Brian’s story is his sobriety. He’s coming up on four years sober, a milestone he’s proud of and one that’s changed the course of his life. He’s open about the fact that if he hadn’t made that change, he wouldn’t be where he is today. A big part of that journey has been his longtime friend and coworker, Bob Alban, his “right-hand man” who also serves as his sponsor. The two have known each other for decades and today Bob is not only a key part of the business as his Project Manager, but someone Brian credits with helping him stay on track personally as well.
Giving back is a big part of who Brian is, and something he’s intentional about making time for. He’s actively involved with The Valerie Fund, a local organization that supports children with cancer and blood disorders, a cause that’s especially meaningful to him given his own experiences. He also spends time supporting Halfway Home Animal Rescue in New Jersey, where his wife Heather is closely involved, helping care for and advocate for animals in need. The business supports that too, with a portion of profits going toward local charities. For Brian, it’s not just about building a business, it’s about using it as a way to support the people and causes that matter most.

That mindset shows up clearly in how he’s built Dunne Rite Solutions.
Dunne Rite has grown quickly, over 300 percent in the past year alone. A key moment in the growth of Dunne Rite came in November of 2025, when Brian brought on a group of partners who have played a big role in strengthening the business. Larry Bloom and Larry Albom of L&L Sales, along with Steve Tenedios of ST Management Group, joined the company as investors, each bringing their own experience and perspective to the table. It was an intentional move to surround the business with people Brian trusts, people who understand the industry and share the same vision for where things are headed.
He’s been intentional about building the right team around him, bringing in partners across sales, finance, and operations to strengthen the business and support where it’s going. At the same time, he’s kept the culture grounded in something simple, take care of people and treat them well.
That very belief is a big part of what he believes is missing in the industry right now.
In his words, too much has become about price, and not enough about service. With Dunne Rite, he set out to change that. Being available after hours, staying involved after the sale, and making sure customers feel supported all the way through the process isn’t something extra, it’s just how they operate.
Brian connects easily with people. He brings energy into conversations, leans into humor, and builds real relationships with his customers. A lot of them become friends over time. That approach has played a big role in the company’s growth, and it’s something he’s very intentional about maintaining as they scale.
That same mindset carries into how he leads his team.
Dunne Rite has a small core group, along with a larger network of sales reps across the country, but Brian keeps things close. He talks about it as a family, and more importantly, he treats it that way. He’s focused on putting his team in positions to succeed, making sure they’re supported, and being right there with them when things get tough. If something needs to get done, he’s not sitting back.
Right now, a big focus is building out their e-commerce platform in partnership with Vail Marketing, based in New Jersey. Brian sees where things are heading: technology, AI, and how customers research and purchase equipment are all changing. He wants Dunne Rite to be ahead of that shift, while still holding onto the service-first approach that sets them apart.
At the same time, his goals outside of business are just as clear.
He and his wife are actively building out their senior dog sanctuary (follow them @weiss_dunne_zoo to get your fix of their adorable furry family members), something that means a lot to both of them. Today, they have 8 rescue dogs (and 2 guinea pigs!), giving them a loving place to live out their golden years. It’s not just a side project, it’s a big part of their life.
Brian’s path hasn’t been linear, and he’s open about the lessons that came with that.
He admits that at times, he trusted people too easily and learned the hard way that not everyone has good intentions. Now, he approaches things differently. He still believes in people, but he takes the time to verify and protect what he’s building.
He’s also very clear on what success looks like for him now. It’s not all about revenue or growth. It’s about being happy, building something meaningful, and being able to enjoy it with the people around him.
That perspective carries into how he works with his customers, especially when it comes to financing. He doesn’t lead with numbers. He leads with confidence in his partnership with FS Foodservice Solutions. He focuses on making sure customers know they have a strong financing partner behind them that can help get things done. Brian shared, “Having a financing partner that treats my customers well, communicates clearly, and keeps me informed throughout the process has made a real difference in how I’ve been able to move projects forward.”
At its core, Dunne Rite Solutions is built on resilience, relationships, and doing things the right way, even when it’s hard…and that’s exactly what continues to drive it forward.
